Fred works at Barnes and Noble

by Jeff Price | Jun 21, 2013 | 50 Books in 50 Weeks, Basic Success Principles, Life & Career Success

I love books and bookstores. Growing up an only child there obviously wasn’t a sibling around so books became my closest companions. They were always available and never let me down. So naturally, I love bookstores. My local Barnes and Noble is my hangout and...

There are no small parts, only small actors

by Jeff Price | Jun 20, 2013 | 50 Books in 50 Weeks, Basic Success Principles, Life & Career Success

I love the movie Rock of Ages. It’s an 80s film and I’m an 80s guy. The Broadway play of the same name was the first play on Broadway I’d ever seen. Although I played pee wee football and loved it, by the time high school came around I was too small...

Fred’s Genuinely Care, Do You?

by Jeff Price | Jun 19, 2013 | 50 Books in 50 Weeks, Basic Success Principles, Life & Career Success

“That means your hard drive is failing,” said the Apple tech rep on the phone. “Do you have a backup hard drive you can connect?” Hearing that my MacBook hard drive failed, when I just started a week of training in New York, nearly sent me into...

Everyone knows Fred

by Jeff Price | Jun 18, 2013 | 50 Books in 50 Weeks, Basic Success Principles, Life & Career Success

Until I read Mark Sanborn’s book “The Fred Factor,” I used to call this the Professionalism Assignment with my aviation job targeting students. I guess now I can change that name to the Fred Assignment. We all know Fred. Fred is the guy or girl who...

We all talk to ourselves anyway, why not say nice things then

by Jeff Price | May 18, 2013 | 50 Books in 50 Weeks, Basic Success Principles, Life & Career Success

When I read a lot of psychology or self-help books I see a lot about visualization, talking to ourselves, imagining how we want to be and actually seeing ourselves in the situation. For the longest time I too thought it was a lot of psycho-babble nonsense, but then...

America may have talent, but that doesn’t mean it has success

by Jeff Price | May 16, 2013 | 50 Books in 50 Weeks, Basic Success Principles, Life & Career Success

One thing I’ve noticed in watching all the reality TV shows, is that while there is no lack of talent in America, talent alone does not get you success. Desire is more important than reality (Baum 33). Remember Rocky? It’s the classic American tale –...

A year later, the bill proposing to abolish the TSA is sitting in committee taking a very long nap. This is the way Congress quietly disposes of ideas it doesn’t want to touch (S.1180 – Abolish TSA Act of 2025 has been in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation since March 27). The bill raises an important question: if the TSA were dismantled, what would replace it? The blog article below, written last year, still offers some useful perspective as you consider your own position on the issue.
